10 Easy and Healthy Snack Ideas

As we all know, snacks are very important part in our daily routine, it helps your body get energy and prevents overeating during your main meals. But the most important thing is to choose the snacks wisely to benefit as much as you can from them.

And when I say benefit, I mean keeping your energy levels up while consuming as much nutrients as possible.

10 easy and Healthy snack ideas:

  1. Fruit and dairy combo: an apple and skimmed milk (any kind of fruit is good, so you can choose any type), and it is better to add up some proteins – which come from milk – in order to sustain your energy and hunger levels.
  2. Canned Tuna (packaged in water) with 1 whole wheat bread, this is a good source of lean protein with healthy Omega-3 option.
  3. Low fat yogurt, with frozen berries, pears, peach or strawberries, with one tea spoon of honey for sweetness.
  4. 4 Tablespoons of Ricotta or cottage cheese (which gives protein), with pear or any type of your favorite fruit to add up fiber, with a teaspoon of cinnamon
  5. One cup of boiled soybeans, beans or corn, season with a little amount of salt with lemon.
  6. Leftovers put together from dinner the night before, like half chicken sandwich, or any dish you could not complete in the main meal.
  7. Sliced carrots and cucumber with a homemade dipping of plain yogurt spiced up with thyme, oregano or basil.
  8. Half cup of lentils with lemon, tomatoes and lettuce which make a very desirable salad.
  9. Green, mint or herbal tea, in case of being bored and not really hungry, this is a calorie-free beverage doesn't qualify as a real snack.
  10. Dried fruits (like raisins, apricot, peach, pineapple or figs) with some raw nuts (almonds, walnuts  or pistachio)

These kinds of snacks will boost up a sustainable source of energy and will help the body metabolize more efficiently. Snacks are important in between the meals in order to reduce the hunger till meal time, thus, reducing the amount of food consumed. When having the right two to three snacks per day, this will keep your energy levels up and give you more opportunities to get in all your nutritional needs.
